Black Friday watches are not the same story at every counter. Walk into a UK jeweller on Friday 27 November and the cuts will be real on Seiko, Citizen and a long run of fashion brands, while the Rolex cabinet is left out of the sale altogether. The brands draw that line, not the shops.
Goldsmiths has already shown its hand. Its Black Friday page names 13 watch brands taking part this year, among them Citizen, Seiko, Raymond Weil, Rotary, Casio and Fossil, and states plainly that Rolex is not included in Black Friday or in any other promotional offer.
Most other jewellers have yet to publish their prices, so this guide works from what is already known: the terms online for 2026, the discounts UK retailers advertised last November, and the rules that decide whether a was price can be trusted. Cyber Monday follows on 30 November.
Our comparison of authorised dealers and the grey market covers the wider trade-off. Here the question is narrower: which watches get cheaper in late November, and how a buyer proves the saving is real.
Which Black Friday watches get discounted in the UK
Black Friday watches in the UK mostly come from fashion and Japanese brands, plus entry-level Swiss names, sold through multi-brand jewellers. Goldsmiths advertises up to 50% off selected watches for 2026. In 2025, UK retailers cut prices on Seiko and Citizen models and on Swiss watches up to TAG Heuer. Goldsmiths excludes Rolex, pre-owned stock and ex-display pieces.
T3's round-up of Black Friday diver's watches, published on 25 November 2025, is the clearest record of last year, because it gives each offer with its retailer and both prices. What follows are the retailers' own was and now prices as T3 reported them, for new watches unless stated. Nobody outside those retailers has tested them against the CMA rules set out further down.
- Seiko Presage 40.5mm at Goldsmiths, was £490, now £290, a cut of 41%.
- Citizen Promaster Diver Super Titanium at Beaverbrooks, was £795, now £445, a cut of 44%.
- Hamilton Khaki Navy Frogman at Chisholm Hunter, was £1,145, now £684, a cut of 40%.
- Tissot Seastar 1000 at Chisholm Hunter, was £770, now £615, a cut of 20%.
- TAG Heuer Aquaracer automatic in 36mm at Beaverbrooks, was £3,100, now £2,092, a cut of 33%.
- Rado Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Skeleton at Chisholm Hunter, was £4,150, now £2,855.25, a cut of 31%.
- Panerai Submersible Marina Militare Carbotech, ex-display, at Chisholm Hunter, was £17,400, now £14,790, a cut of 15%.
Patterns matter more than any single price. Among last year's Black Friday watches, the deepest cuts of 40% and more sat on Seiko, Citizen or Hamilton pieces with was prices under £1,200. The most expensive watch on the list, the Panerai, was an ex-display piece and came off by 15%. Goldsmiths' 2026 terms shut that route at its own counters, because ex-display stock is excluded from its sale.
On Black Friday the discount follows the brand: Seiko and Citizen fell 40% or more in 2025, while Goldsmiths excludes Rolex from every promotion.
Why Rolex and Patek Philippe stay at full price in November
Received wisdom says Black Friday watches are cheaper everywhere for anyone who knows where to look. For new watches from the most tightly distributed brands, the retailers' own published terms say the opposite.
Goldsmiths is an Official Rolex Retailer, and its 2026 Black Friday page answers the point directly: Rolex is not part of Black Friday or of any other promotional offer there. Its price match promise goes further and excludes 3 brands by name, Rolex, Tudor and Patek Philippe. Neither Goldsmiths' page nor Beaverbrooks' 2026 Black Friday page mentions Patek Philippe among the brands on offer.
Rolex's guarantee explains why the authorised price holds. Rolex states that its watches carry a 5-year guarantee from the date of purchase. That guarantee is valid only when an Official Rolex Retailer sold the watch and completed the Rolex guarantee card in full at the time of sale, and when the card is presented with the watch. Work carried out by third parties voids it, Rolex adds.
So a search for rolex black friday returns 2 kinds of result. Official retailers say there is no offer. Grey-market and pre-owned sellers quote prices that move with their own stock all year round, and late November is simply another week for them. A lower number from an unofficial seller is a different purchase with a different guarantee position. Ask the seller to state in writing which retailer completed the card, and on what date.
Waiting lists sit outside this. Allocation is a distribution decision by the brand and its retailers, and no Black Friday page we read mentions it.

Pre-owned and grey-market watches against an authorised dealer
A buyer who wants a Rolex, Tudor or Omega below retail has 3 routes, each with a different warranty. None of these sellers has announced 2026 prices for Black Friday watches, so we compare the terms they publish instead.
A new Rolex from an Official Rolex Retailer carries the brand's 5-year guarantee. A watch from the Rolex Certified Pre-Owned programme, sold through Official Rolex Retailers, carries a 2-year international guarantee from the date of purchase, according to Mappin & Webb's Rolex certification page. Goldsmiths sells Rolex Certified Pre-Owned too, but its 2026 terms say pre-owned watches are excluded from its Black Friday offers.
A specialist pre-owned dealer sets its own terms. Watchfinder's warranty page gives every pre-owned watch it sells a 24-month warranty, alongside any manufacturer's warranty still running, and offers 14-day returns. Its cover is for manufacturing and mechanical defects only. Strap wear is excluded, as are theft or loss. Accidental damage is excluded as well, as is water damage against the maker's guidance, and aftermarket parts void the warranty.
Grey-market sellers, offering new watches from outside a brand's authorised network, publish no common standard. What the buyer gives up is set by the brand's rules, and for Rolex those rules tie the guarantee to an Official Rolex Retailer completing the card at the sale.
Box and papers prove only that a set of documents travels with the watch, whether it is pre-owned or grey-market stock. Neither proves the service history or that every part is original. Our guide to certified pre-owned and grey-market watches sets out those differences in more depth.
We quote no grey-market or auction prices here. A secondary figure is usable only with its date and source, plus the watch's condition and whether box and papers came with it. Such prices are also volatile.
How to tell a genuine Black Friday deal from an inflated was price
A genuine Black Friday watch deal compares the sale price with a price the same retailer actually charged on the same website just before the sale. The CMA's reference pricing principles treat about 30 days at the higher price as the usual minimum, with at least 1 sale at the was price for every 2 at the discount.
The Competition and Markets Authority published those principles on 1 August 2024, for online mattress sellers. Its CMA document says the authority will have regard to them when it looks at reference pricing in other sectors. It also says the discount period should last no longer than the higher price was charged, and that a comparison with an RRP counts as reference pricing as well.
Fun fact: Across periods sampled from 2021 to 2023, the CMA found 1 online mattress company had sold just 0.9% of its mattresses at or above its quoted was price.
Penalties for misleading claims on Black Friday watches, as on anything else, rose in 2025. The consumer enforcement provisions of the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 came into force on 6 April 2025. Since then the CMA can fine a business up to 10% of its global turnover for breaking consumer law without first going to court.
Slaughter and May's summary of the regime sets out those powers. On top of that, the CMA's price transparency guidance requires the total price, including mandatory charges, to be shown when the product is offered.
Wider evidence supports caution. Which? tracked 175 products at 8 retailers from May 2024 to May 2025. In research published on 25 November 2025, it found 83% were cheaper or the same price at least once outside the 4-week sale window of 15 November to 12 December 2024.
No product in that study was at its lowest price of the year on Black Friday itself. Which? looked at appliances, not watches, so the finding shows how retailers behave in the season rather than what Black Friday watches cost.
A buyer cannot see a retailer's sales volumes, but can see a price history. Note today's price for the exact model on the retailer's own page, check the brand's UK RRP on the brand's site, and compare both with the Black Friday figure. Black Friday watch deals priced against an RRP the retailer has never charged deserve the most scrutiny.
Returns, warranty and the checks before paying
- Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, an online buyer can cancel within 14 days of receiving the watch, then has a further 14 days to send it back. Which? explains that the refund is due within 14 days of the retailer receiving the watch or proof of posting, whichever comes first.
- Engraved or personalised watches fall outside that right. If the retailer fails to give the required cancellation information, the period can be extended by up to 12 months.
- Beaverbrooks' Black Friday page goes beyond the law: an unworn item bought in its sale can be returned within 30 days, in its original packaging with proof of purchase.
- For Cyber Monday watches, Goldsmiths lists 30 November as its final online deals on selected lines.
Before 27 November, write down the retailer's current online price for the watch you want and the brand's UK RRP. On the day, an offer on Black Friday watches is worth taking when the new price beats both and the retailer can show it charged the was price. Ask for the guarantee card to be completed and dated at the sale.
For a Rolex, budget for full retail at an Official Rolex Retailer, or accept a 2-year guarantee on certified pre-owned or a dealer's own warranty elsewhere. Keep the delivery date. The 14-day clock starts there. Our pre-owned watch checklist covers inspecting the watch itself.
